The auth number was once written on the software package, but when I got version 10, it wasn't any longer.

If you're trying to activate over the internet, you might not have authorization to upgrade to 11 until they charge your credit card, or otherwise make record that you upgraded. As I recall from my last upgrade from Jaws 6 to Jaws 9, it took about a day to obtain my new authorization. If you go to fsactivate.com you will get further instructions on what to do, as well as the number of licensing codes you have available and for what version they'll work. If you aren't authorized for version 11 in a couple of days, I would call the sales department.
