Dear list, I thought the list would like to know that the latest update release of Jaws 11 appears to have fixed a long term annoying bug on my Acer Net book running XP Home. I do not know if this was intentional or an accidental by product of the amendments made to ensure compatibility with Windows 7.
Basically the problem was that after returning after a system standby, typically when the lid of the Netbook was closed for example, Jaws 10 and previous versions of Jaws 11 would report Error Number 6 and then would insist that the Jaws version was not authorised and would only run in demo mode, forcing a reboot. The only information I had got before was a claim that this was not a Jaws issue but that the drivers on the Acer needed to be "updated". Anyway the latest update to Jaws 11 appears to have fixed this long standing XP annoyance and seems quite happy with the Acer driver setup now - fingers crossed. Given that Windows XP Home is not the latest cutting edge OS it would be nice if FS could update previous versions of Jaws 10 for anybody else suffering this bug. It might be worth anybody who is having this problem to download jaws 11 and run in demo mode to see if there has been an update to shared components which might have fixed this problem for previous versions of Jaws . .
