Hi All,

My tech uninstalled Avast for me remotely yesterday since I had to have him
do something else via remote, so I'm all set.

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has gotten the instructions below to work to
uninstall Avast? I'm getting a checkbox for disable self defense module
instead of a enable one to uncheck. I check the disable one and hit enter
on okay the utility bongs at me and says the self defense module must be
disable or to do it in safe mode.

The free Avast 4.8 is on the machine now and I want to uninstall it and
install Microsoft Security Essentials. I'm running JAWS 9 and 10 and have a
SMA for 11 on an XP Home with SP3 machine.

Thanks,

Margaret

  Hello,

Download avast! uninstall utility (aswClear.exe) located on this page:
  http://public.avast.com/~zrubecky/aswClear.exe

  and follow these instructions:

  1. Download aswClear.exe on to your desktop
  2. Disable self-defence module:
  - Start avast! program
  - Right-click anywhere on its window and from the menu select SETTINGS
  - Choose "Troubleshooting" and untick option "Enable avast! self-defence
module"

  3. Open (execute) the uninstall utility
  4. If you installed avast! in a different folder than the default, browse
for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be
deleted!)
  5. Click REMOVE
  6. Restart your computer

  Best regards,
