Have you tried this?
Highlight an mp3 file in Windows Explorer.
Press Alt enter.
Shift tab to the, change button and press enter.
Arrow around until you find Winamp and then tab to OK.
That should change to Winamp to the default player for all mp3 files.

I've had this question come up on another list. How do you change
Windows media player 12 from being the default player for any file
types (such as mp3) even when you've selected Winamp to be your
default? (I don't have Windows 7 myself; but have tried to help.
he's tried most things, it would appear; but Windows media comes up
automatically instead of Winamp.)
