Well, I suppose if you want key echo to be conditioned based on if you're in
an edit field, you could do it with a script that would query the window
class of the current window, and return that value to a variable, then say
if that variable equals, you know... whatever... then perform the function
procedure call to echo characters, else, echo none. The only issue with
this is, if you get a weird edit field with an unknown class, oh, sure, you
could reclass it, but then you stand a risk of the field not properly
behaving, and not only do you have a problem with the edit field being a
custom window class, if the window handle isn't correct, then you're screwed
even that much more. I'm not! saying this couldn't be done, don't get me
wrong here, but, I'm just telling you now, be ware, it's not gonna be
exactly, ideally, the easiest thing to do, and it will almost guaranteed,
not be consistent to work, someone correct me here, if I'm wrong.
I gotta admit I'm by far not a script writer, and hardly know anything about
scripting, but it seems to me, this would be the only really logical way to
do it, if you conditionally wanted it to be based soly *only!* on edit
boxes. course then here's the other thing too...: do you want it to only do
it with single line, or do you want it to do it with multi-line edit boxes,
as both of those are gonna have seperet window classes, and probably, most
likely, seperet window handles. So, just be aware. Again I reidderate: I
never said! this couldn't be done, but! be aware. It's not? gonna be for
the faint a heart.

In the situation where it is desired, Press JAWSKey+2, until you get the
level you want. This is just a temporary setting. There doesn't appear
to be a specific Address Bar setting for this. (Interesting idea.)

I am trying to crate a situation where characters are echoed when typing
in this body but when out of the message body to revert to no character
announce.
I have been trying to achieve this for ages. I have keys off all the
time and I use the word option usually. The ideal situation for me is
when I enter an edit box, like the address bar in IE that character mode
could be switched on automatically as I really like to hear what goes in
to avoid making mistakes and having to retype. Hope you get what I mean
and can this be achieved?
