Hi Marsha. Probably a press on insert+escape is enough.
But when you wrote that it is a brand new laptop, do you then have checked out the screen settings, so it appears correctly? Color's 24 bit or best 32 bit, and resolution can be a countless of setting's, whether your screen is all between 10 and 17 inch'es. An example can be something like 1160 * 652, or 1680 * 945.
