Hi all, I own a desktop and a laptop, and occasionally use a family computer as well. I've had a variety of circumstances this year that have resulted in my needing quite a few more activations of JAWS than Freedom Scientific seemed to like: I upgraded some hardware in my desktop, had some technical troubles with my desktop resulting in my having to reinstall Windows, found that my locking code changed once completely at random, and so on. The last time I needed my activations reset I had to write a letter that got passed on to a supervisor. I have just gotten a job at my college, and I feel pretty certain that I won't be able to get another activation reset out of FS for a good few months. Rather than explaining my views that this activation scheme punishes legitimate users of JAWS by controlling how many times they can make changes to their computer systems and continue to use JAWS, I'll proceed to my question.
I'm thinking maybe a USB dongle would be a better solution. I have a few questions: what is the approximate cost of a dongle - is it sold pretty much at cost or is it in the hundreds? And if I purchase a dongle, can I still continue using the ILM scheme as well and have both, or will it completely change how I am licensed to use JAWS? Thanks all for the help!
