Although there may have been a preference, there's nothing about not
being able to use the parallel output port or cord with any previous
version of JAWS. You can as ever use the parallel port with any version
of JAWS. FS stopped supporting use of the serial port with the
powerBraille in JAWS11.

You must uise a parallel-to-parallel
port cable. If you don't have one,
contact FS or have your dealer make arrangements, or get
the requisite
cable yourself. Even with that, which i had, I had a
Powerbraille which
would not work with JAWS11. (it was old, so there may
have been
something wrong with it. It wouldn't even work with
JAWS10 and prior,
which allowed for serial port connectivity.)
