Hi David,
I'm not saying that you are wrong,
I'm just saying that earlier versions of Jaws will work.
I believe you are probably right that Jaws 9 was the first version to support IE8.
If service pack 3 for Windows XP is installed after a later version of IE,
it will not allow you to roll- back.
Example, if you were running IE6, then installed SP3, then IE7,
you would not be able to roll back to IE6.
And the same holds true for IE8, to the best of my knowledge.
In short, you can only roll back to an earlier version installed after SP3, anything before is unavailable.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Hello there;

well, if I'm wrong, I'll stand corrected.
I thought, IE8, received jaws support in version 9.

if the person is running XP, why couldn't they go back to IE7 through the control panel/add slash remove.

If memory serves me IE 8 came out before SP3.

I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I'll probably screw that one up
too.

Although some WebPages may not read well, earlier versions of Jaws will in
fact work with IE 8.
Since I am not at the computer in question, I can't look for other possible
causes,
but I suspect that the,Open Parent Document Button, is a graphic
and if focus could be brought to it with a mouse, it could be renamed.
I don't remember if IE 8 was available without having service pack 3
installed, but if it were, and installed ahead of SP3, then
a roll-back to IE7 will not be possible.
I would try a different version of Jaws, before trying to roll-back to IE8. Additionally, I would try using a system restore point to try and pinpoint
the time when the problem occurred.

Hello there;
well, the answer to your problem is?

your version of jaws, doesn't work with IE8.

you will need to go back to IE7,

you can do this through the add slash remove, in the control panel.

Hello everyone,

Here's a strange one for you.
I am using Windows XP, JAWS 7.1 and IE 8. When I try to use IE, JAWS
reads (quote):
"Open Parent Document Button." No links are visible, nothing is
accessible using the PC cursor. The JAWS cursor will read the page, as
will the JAWS key + B combination. Routing JAWS to PC cursor does
nothing to solve this, nor does routing the PC cursor to JAWS. Any
ideas? Before you ask, aside from Microsoft Security Essentials, no new software has been installed, and the problem just started, months after I
installed the security suite. Furthermore, doing a System Restore does
no good.

Thanks all.

Paul
