That is the new Aero theme that adds a glitzy glass look to the window
frames. It is not compatible with JAWS, so when JAWS is started Aero is
turned off if it is on. Likewise, JAWS re-enables Aero if it previously had
to turn it off. If you are the only user, you can avoid this switching by
disabling Aero all of the time. Perhaps switching takes a second or two.
Just select the "Classic" Theme from the Display Control Panel. Sighted
users find it "pretty".

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real
substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working
on things that matter.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] color change error message
Well this is quite interesting. A few times when jaws was starting I heard
an error message stating that colors have been changed to windows 7 basic.
It also mentioned that some programs may not function correctly and that
there is a mirror driver causing the problem. I sent a query to FS about
this and was advised to contact support by phone to try and figure out
what was going on. I had my wife here who could see what was happening
since I only heard the message on a few occasions and she can see it every
time that jaws starts.
After talking to support it is determined that there is no real problem.
When jaws starts it turns off some windows features to eliminate problems
and when jaws is stopped everything is automatically turned back on. The
support person had no idea that even a message is displayed. This happens
before jaws actually starts. There is no explanation why on a few
occasions it was read to me.
As far as the mirror driver jaws must load one to capture the screen. At
least I now feel better knowing that there is not any problem with my
machine or jaws.
As far as the desktop widgets that on rare occasion are read, he suggested
that I remove them. The weather one is interesting and My wife does use it
so I will let it in place.
