yes, this works. I was sure I was in the default too, before, where 0 keys was showing.

I had a lot of problems with this myself. However, what seems to work for me is to bring up settings center and type ctrl shift d then in the search box type manage key label, tab once for the list and hit enter and you will see 84 keys you can modify. If you don't type ctrl shift d it's going to show 0 items in the list.
