In a case like that where jaws does not echo the contents that  has been
copied or appended to the clipboard,  I sometimes use the windows jaws key x
command to read the contents of the clipboard just to verify that I indeed
copied something.
Of course this could be a terrible idea if you have large chunks of text
copied to the clipboard because you have lots of text copied, which is why I
just check when I have a few words copied.
I use the latest version of jaws on a windows 7 64 bit and it echos when it
is coppying text etc but when I encounter the problem that Donnie
encountered. I just save my work, close and reopen the document or just
reboot entirely.

Guess so, because it does it on mine. Its only after a reboot and 
then only for a short time does it say it.
