Okay, here is a discrepancy, some folks are talking about retrieving updates 
from the
Windows update website, and others are talking about what is shown on the 
computer
when you click on automatic updates in the system tray.
If you are viewing updates from the Windows update site, you will find the 
definition updates for  MSE,
but, they have not shown up on any of my XP systems as an automatic update 
found in the system tray.
And to clarify, this is with Windows XP only.
I'm going to drop out of this one, since we have gone further than the use 
of Jaws in this instance. smile.

I'm running xp and I clicked on
"optional updates the category under "High priority updates" at
www.windowsupdate.com
Windows update is on my programs list on my startup.  It listed all my
updates under "history" and gave dates.  I use automatic updates for
download but install my own optional updates.  Marilyn
