strange, have you tried hitting f5 to reload the page and tabbing to a link on it? I have been using windows and I.E. since, hmmmm, 1997, and have had little trouble like this, lockups yes but usually it was after I came out of sleep mode or hibernation modes or had the comp on too long with not enough memory to enable it (8 Gb now and no troubles since switching to win 7 and I.E.9 at all)
