I did this, I opened the docqument in the old style, and then opened a new docqument, and cut and paste, and now it does not say compatablity mode, now when I want to add it to the stream, do I have to resave it to html, or plain text! To place in notes folder? sue

It means you are using a newer version of Microsoft Office.
