this a very old item but I wanted to mention something on this. the biggest trouble with external drives is they can go bad in just a year or two, usually the power supply going out in the things.
unfortunately with the repair industry going the way it is right now, you spend almost as much as you would to fix the drive as to replace it with a new one of the same size (top of the line goes up in capacity so your lower unit costs less) but... you have data on that disk, and you may be in dire need of it. I myself build and sell custom two piece external drives. there more expensive, but have an advantage, if the power supply goes out you or I can buy a new case, extract the drive, and get the info back on line. 2. my units are built to your specs, so have as many drives and hold as much information as you can afford up to the industry maximums. if the drive goes bad, you (or I) can take it out of the case and either send it out for recovery (I have a lower cost company I generally use) either right now, or later when you can afford it, and we can put a new drive in the case if you want so you can continue to backup with as little cost and minimal inconvenience as possible. just wanted folks to know. inthane -----Original Message----- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of jim Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2012 12:40 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] external hard drives Hi list: If I bought a Seagate external hard drive for my windows 7 desktop, would Jaws be able to read the various menus and set up options that are in the built in software of the external hard drive?
