I don't have a Win8 machine to refer to right now, but my guess is that as far as shutdown goes, the executable is in: C:\Windows\System32\ or C:\Windows\SysWow64\ The same as Win7. I did start a windows 8 page last summer but my resource stopped sending daily emails so for now it is at a stand still until I obtain new material. The thing about 7 is many shortcuts may be found by bringing them up in the search box and then doing a send to command to the desktop. If I can add to my 7 or 8 page for that matter some time I certainly will do so. I looked the up the shutdown shortcut in the windows 8 inside out book, which I don't think contains many others. In fact it didn't have the correct shortcut, as it was changed in windows 8 rtm, and I had to check the options for shutdown using the command line.
