I am using JAWS 12 and I have my calendar set to day view. While in the day view section of the screen, I can use the up and down arrows to read the time slots and the events in them. Also make sure the window is maximized. When using my work computer, I appear to run into a lot of issues with reading the calendar. I've made attempts to check over the settings with help from others more knowledgeable than I and it has not fixed the problem.

I can't seem to work out how to get it to tell me the time / date of the cell I'm in.
