Some folks are using Chrome, but I'm still avoiding it. You can go with the latest Firefox.
If you're buying Outlook as part of an Office suite, you might want to consider buying Office 2007. It seems like folks who have 2010 or 2013 have more issues, but I have no experience so those who do can give you better advice.
