Jim, As Janie pointed out correctly, in order to Toggle the synthesizer to mute in order to silence JAWS speech, use the following command: Press JAWS key + SpaceBar, and then the letter S by itself. Where the JAWS key is INSERT while in JAWS Desktop Keyboard Layout or when in JAWS Laptop Keyboard Layout, you can use either CapsLock or INSERT for the JAWS key.
