Hi Alan, Landscape means that the picture is wider than tall, where Portrait mode is taller than wide. Being that I am currently using a 22 inch wide screen monitor so my wife can see things more easily. Landscape was the default setting probably because the OS noticed the information from the monitor to install the drivers.
Now, as far as screen resolution, I noticed that playing around with settings Jaws would read differently depending on the setting. i.e; I get more information using the Jaws cursor in Windows Update or System Restore with my current setting than I would with a higher or lower resolution setting. I'm not saying everyone will have the same results as myself but, just stating what works best for me. It took me a few hours of experimentation to decide on this particular resolution setting. XP vs Windows7, I still use XP most of the time & will use it until I can't any more. But, the more I get used to Windows7 the less it bothers me. Actually I'm really pretty comfortable with Win7 at this point but, it can really tick me off sometimes! LOL, hahaha hahaha hahaha, LOL Take care. Have I misinterpreted something. Also, when you say landscape mode is the view actually rotated 90 degrees on your monitor? As far as getting full funtionality using Jaws & Win7, I have can use J13, 14, & 15. But, the screen resolution needs to be played around with in order to do so. Currently I get my best results with the screen resolution set at 1360 by 768 & using Landscape instead of Portrait. This is on a Win7 Pro 64 bit system. Thanks again. Take care. I have learned this to my cost. True, there is NVDA, but in my experience Jaws is superior in reviewing the total contents of the screen (Jaws cursor) and also in the ability to change keystrokes. Sorry, I don't know the answer to the Jaws version question.
