Hi, all, I have used Norton for years, and it is hardly accessible at all in my opinion. Before getting on this list, I guess I just assumed I would always need some sighted help to download and install antivirus software, but after a discussion on this topic a few months back, I have learned that there are more screen reader friendly options out there. But for a totally blind person dependent on jaws, I found Norton to be very frustrating and aggrevating due to its inaccessibility. When things pop up, like monthly reports, I cannot find even a link anywhere to clear it, and have to shut down the computer to get rid of it.
As far as free antivirus programs, my friend, who does all the computers at his company, feels that they are not as good as those that you have to pay for. And, as someone has said here, if I get a virus, lose data, have to start all over with my computer and probably have to pay someone to fix the damage done, it isn't free, so it is better to just pay for a good one and have more peace of mind. Also, I do think that Norton is quite expensive. Judy & Tallie For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
