This happens to me with Word 2003. You just have to keep saying no to everything and be sure to save your document before you try to close it. But if you reboot your computer, I think word will stop saying that. It may start again, though at some point. I've just gotten used to it. I save my document. Then I close it. Word says there's another user and I space bar on OK. Then I try to close the document again and at some point, it says something about changing the template. and I say no.
