It works in windows 8 too.

On Windows 7, just open Windows Mobility Center, and toggle Function Key Row to "Function Key" instead of "Multimedia key". It's as easy as that...


I know this can be done because I did it a few years ago for the lap top I have at home. I don't recall the details, but I do recall that it involved the use of Control Panel. The computer I am using here at work right now is a desktop, so I am working from memory. There may be something equivalent in other versions of Windows.
