Hi Arianna,

On my wife's Lenovo 540 the keystroke is, FN key + escape to disable /
enable the function keys. Below is a list of what the function keys do,
possibly for yours as well. Also, here are steps that might help disable
your mouse pad.

ustomizing the ThinkPad pointing device
You can customize the ThinkPad pointing device to achieve the extended
functions of the ThinkPad
pointing device.
To customize the ThinkPad pointing device, do the following:
1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Click Hardware and Sound . Mouse . ThinkPad.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen.

I don't know if the following is the same as on your laptop but, here is the
function key functions on a Lenovo 500s

f1: Mutes/unmutes the sound.

f2: Decreases the volume level.

f3: Increases the volume level.

f4: Closes the currently active window.

f5: Refreshes the desktop or the currently active window.

f6: Enables/disables the touchpad and the touchpad buttons.

f7: Enables/disables airplane mode. (Wireless)

f8: Switches the active program.

f9: Turns on/off the backlight of the display.

f10: Projects to a connected display.

f11: Decreases display brightness.

f12: Increases display brightness.

Hopefully this info is helpful.

Take care.
Mike

PadonLaptop

Mike, I'm using a Lenovo and for the life of me, I can't disable that
mousepad. What normally shows up in the properties work sheet doesn't show
up in my two Lenovos.

I've tried f6 and f8 and neither one of those does it.

Any other suggestions?

Arianna
