That worked and it keeps outher auto features working. It also showed me
some other options that will be of help.

Yes, open your Office tab alt-f.

Go to Word Options.

Select the proofing option under the category view and tab to the
auto-correct settings.

Control tab to the Apply-as-you-type page. Uncheck the boxes automatic
bulleted lists, and automatic numbered lists.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Thanks, I'll try this in a bit. Do you know if there is a way to make
turning the 2 functions (bullets and numbering) off as the default and only
turning them on if I want them?

hello;

try the following;

1, open MSWord;
now press alt+f+i=options,

2, down arrow until you hear proofing;

3 now tab enter on,
auto correct options....

4, now ctrl+tab until you hear;
AutoFormat As You Type tab

5, now use the tab key and uncheck the necessary check boxes.
Automatic bulleted lists, Automatic numbered lists hope this helps.

Thanks-I gave it some tests and it worked but not uniformly. In addition,
it seemed to create issues with Spellcheck. Is there a way to turn off just
the bullets and numbering without turning off all automatic features?

hello;
in word 2007,

1, open the ms word,

2, use the keystroke,
ctrl+shif+#8 on the numbers row.

this should turn all formatting features off.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Automatic Formatting in Word

Hello MS Word users,

I am using MS Word 2007, Windows 7 64bit and JAWS 14. I want to turn off
automatic bullets and numbering in my docs.  I followed the F1 instructions;
went to Word Options, went to proofing and clicked on automatic formatting.
The instructions said to tab to automatic bulleted lists and uncheck it then
to automatic numbered lists and uncheck that. When I tab to those
selections it never turns off the bullets and there is no place to uncheck
numbered lists. I don't know if JAWS is missing something or the
instructions are not complete. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne
