I can disable the mousepad on my Toshiba Satellite laptop. However, at the moment i'm experimenting with decreasing the sensitivity, so that you would have to actually press one of the mouse buttons rather than merely touch it to activate it. That might be an acceptable compromise between us and the rodent users

The problem is there's no disable option or JAWS isn't reading it for some
reason. I've tried using the JAWS cursor but it doesn't show up that way
either.

You might be able to go into the control panel, select the Mouse item; then
Select Properties; then Select Settings; and control-tab to the drivers
page. Then, there will be an option to disable the driver.
e mousepad That should kill the little critter.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Arianna,
Some of those Dell laptops have a Fn key combination to do this.
Which Dell laptop do you have?

Does anyone know of a keystroke to disable or shut down the mousepad on a

Manager and there was no disable button or else JAWS couldn't read it.

Thanks for any help.
