I have a Toshiba Satellite M645-s...(I can't remember the last for digits of
the model number). There are 2 ways in which I can turn my mouse pad on and
off. There is a Function key that is used in conjunction with the Fn key to
toggle the mouse pad on and off. There is an icon of a mouse pad, a slash,
and a mouse pad with a line through it on the assigned Function key. I do
not use this technique, so I can't tell you with Function key it is. The
second option that is available and I always use, is with a small button
that is located above the mouse pad and below the spacebar. This button is
very difficult to detect tactually. The button is level with the
surrounding surface and has a slight texture change where the button is. My
understanding is that when the mouse pad is turned on, there is a light
illuminated just above the mouse pad where the small button is. When the
mouse pad is off, so is the light.
When the computer is shut down and then powered up later, the setting is
retained.

How do you do this on a Toshiba laptop? I can disable the mouse pad on my
Toshiba Satellite C 50-B each time I start the computer, but cannot do this
permanently. Every rebot requires turing the mouse off.

I can disable the mousepad on my Toshiba Satellite laptop. However, at the
moment i'm experimenting with decreasing the sensitivity, so that you would
have to actually press one of the mouse buttons rather than merely touch it
to activate it. That might be an acceptable compromise between us and the
rodent users

The problem is there's no disable option or JAWS isn't reading it for some
reason. I've tried using the JAWS cursor but it doesn't show up that way
either.
