The keystroke for my Acer computer was ALT+f10, after hitting the power button. I held them down for about 25 seconds, then safeboot finally came up. I did not need my repair disk, just down arrowed to restore to factory default, and pressed enter. On most computers it is f8 or f2, but Acer computers are ALT+f10. Worked like a charm...
