Page Layout in Office 2010 is Alt P. Also Alt O, F, takes you to Font, and
as you tab through the options, page numbering can be found. Once you have
made choices in Font, you have to tab on to OK.

Interesting. I think the answers to both your questions lie in the page
layout menu. I've never seen any codes, but a thorough exam will show you
how things are laid out.
