The back stage item to be checked is now showing up in my Word 2010. Oh, well, that is the way my life is going, nothing seems to work as it should.

Press S to move to the Save category. 3. Tab to the checkbox "don't show the backstage when opening or saving files" and press spacebar to check it. 4. Tab to OK and use spacebar. If you also don't want the backstage opening when you open word do the following: 1. Press Alt+F followed by Alt+T to go into Word options. 2. The first category is general. Tab across the options in this category. When you get to the "Show the start screen when this application starts" checkbox use spacebar to uncheck it if it is checked. 3. Tab to OK and press spacebar. 4. Close Word and open it again to make sure your options stayed as you set them. If not then you might try restarting your system. Take care. Then, under categories, arrow down to the Trust Center. Now, once inside of this, arrow down until you find Trust Center Settings, and open this. Once in Trust Center Settings, arrow down to Protected View, tab one time to enter the Protected View settings, and uncheck any of these settings that you do not want affecting the files that you download by having them open in protected view. When at the end of the list, simply tab once and press enter on the OK button. Lastly, do this one more time to exit the menu. Now documents that you download from the internet, an email attachment or whatever, will not open in protected view. If you do have one to do this, focus on the file, right click and select properties. At the end of the Home tab, there will be an item called "Unblock". Click on this, then on Apply, then on OK, and the file will not open in protected view.
