mse is really not that good in my opinion before switching to vipre 2014 I was using mse. after all the awhile I decided to switch to vipre. when I did and ran a scan a lot of threats were found. so I think mse is a false protection, even microsoft recommends third party antivirus for windows 7

Thanks Dan-but I am still using Windows 7 and plan to wait until Windows 10 has been debugged by more advanced users than me. Would you recommend Viper 2014 over Microsoft Security Essentials for someone in my situation until I move up to 10?

hi,

you do realise since win8 you no longer require third party av.
microsoft have re-designed the built in security from start to end. for example, enabling enhanced protection mode in internet explorer creates a sandbox around the os. many articles have tested this statement and explain that the core intergrated security is more powerful and effective in av protection than the third party counter parts.when you install third party av these disable the built in security features.

i have been running win8 for over 2years without third party av and touch wood no viruses and windows is running much faster and quiter.

the biggest hurdle the average user has to overcome is the notion that having no third party av does not mean your pc is more vulnerable to attacks. microsofts intergrated security provides protection in the background, heck they don’t even place the defender icon in the system tray anymore.

Wayne, to answer your question, vipre antivirus is screenreader friendly, but you want version 2014, I’ve been talking with threattrack security, the manufacturing company that makes vipre, and they’re out of clearwater florida! they’re working on making version 2016 more accessible with jaws! I’ve been talking with their product specialist, by the name of Ethan Kanar Version 2015 isn’t verry accessible in certain parts of the interface.
