You can also open the Home tab, tab down to Unblock, press enter on this, then tab to apply, then OK. Your document will now not open in protected view.

I use the Jaws cursor and locate the enable button to open such documents.

Hi Deb,

1. Open the document
2. Press Alt key and arrow down to Backstage View 3. Locate Info and tab
over to where Protected View is spoken 4. Press spacebar and that will
activate the Edit button

I've received some lectures I need to read with JAWS. Am using Windows 7,
JAWS 15 and Word 2010. What are the keystrokes to disable protected mode?

Thanks!
