Kim, it took Jim's 8.1 about an hour to download 10, and he has no screen
reader. So you'd have time for a beer and a smoke for sure. You might want
to come in and check every now and then. Jim's kept showing the percent of
how much was loaded. I don't know what it would do when a screen reader is
needed.

I'm getting Windows 10 from scratch. Heading out tomorrow to see the people
about it; Gomer the Guru never showed up. I didn't think he would.

Best to you from,

Carolyn

Jim:
I will ask this last question then my nerves will calm down lol.

If it's the same as upgrading to 8.1, so my comp will reboot several times
and if memory serves, I had speech after 8.1 was installed.
I just walked away as it took some time, so same thing right with upgrading
to 10? Just run that tool, walk away, go have a beer and a smoke and come
back and check on it in an hour or so?

Please don't say ask me to read previous messages as I no longer have them,
lol. That was my bad for deleting them.

post the link for the media tool so I can save it and possibly upgrade once
time permits?
I'm using windows 8.1 and I've been watching this thread and I, to am a lil
bit scared to do it alone hahaha.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I did not lose JAWS, and I did not lose my network connection during the
update. Everything stayed in tact. As stated, you will have to change your
default web browser from Edge back to Internet Explorer until Microsoft gets
Edge more accessible. This is really all that I had to do in the update
process that even remotely resembled changing any settings or reinstalling
anything.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10 upgrade versus clean install

Hello,

There has been loads of posts I've been following regarding
upgrading to Windows 10 with JAWS. In the past, I have never
had real good success with upgrading and have always found a
clean install produces much better performance. Has anyone
done this and if so, how does JAWS handle this? My guess is
with the later sighted assistance may be needed but with the
new and improved narrator maybe not? One other question with
upgrading, does a home network that is setup remain intact
or does it need to be set up again?

Best,

Al
