I have this option unchecked, and PDF documents are still opening in IE 11 rather than in Adobe Reader. So whenever I encounter a PDF document in my Google search results, I open it in a new window by pressing Shift-Enter. I have found that if you try to open a PDF document inside IE 11 in the same window as the search results, IE 11 may freeze. In my case, I cannot get PDF documents to open in Adobe Reader even though I have unchecked that check box on the last page of the Accessibility Set-Up dialog. But what is even stranger is that the Adobe PDF Reader add-on is not showing on my list of add-ons in IE 11, yet Adobe Reader is apparently reading them, anyway. One other setting you need to change on Adobe Reader to insure that PDF documents will be read, is to access the Edit menu, scroll down to Preferences, then scroll down the list of options until you land on Security (Enhanced) (the item immediately after Security by itself), tab once to the checkbox labeled "enable protected mode at start up". which is checked by default, and uncheck it. Otherwise, PDF documents may not be processed and read at all, and when you click on a link labeled as a PDF, IE 11 may simply open on a blank page.

Hi

When you open a PDF document in your browser, such as internet explorer,
the PDF document will be opened in the browser by default. In the browser,
there is no option to save the PDF document in a different format. But when
you opened the saved PDF document, you were using Adobe Reader which has an
option of saving the document in a different format, such as text. But
Adobe Reader has an option to be the program used even if you open the
document from your browser. With this option, when you open a PDF document
from your browser, the choices to save in a different format such as text
are available. To set Adobe Reader to always be the program to open a PDF
document, open Adobe Reader. Then type alt+e to open the edit menu and up
arrow 2 times to get to the accessibility sub-menu. Press right arrow to
open this sub-menu and then press down arrow one time to get to Setup
Assistant and press enter. This will open a 5 page dialog which allows you
to choose accessibility options for screen readers, magnification programs
or both. Tab to the next button and press enter. Do not press enter on the
Use recommended settings and skip setup button. The last four pages of this
dialog allow you to set various accessibility options. You navigate through
those pages by pressing tab until you get to the next button and press
enter. The option we are looking for to always open a PDF document in Adobe
Reader is on the last page, titled Display PDF documents in the web
browser. Make sure that this option is not checked. Then tab to finish and
press enter.

   Hi,

I have 2 computers one is running IE 11, so I just now went to my bank and
the E statements.
so here's what I did..
I clicked on July statement and Adobe 11 loaded it, I was able to read it
online no trouble.

But when I wanted to save it as accessible *.txt* because there was no
"other submenu" in the Alt F menu.
I had to let it save as the *PDF and whatever the file name it gave, maybe
the file name could be changed as long as the .PDF extension was left.
so it save and went to My docs. Then I entered on it there, it opened it
again, I heard jaws announce processing page 1 of 3..

after it finished, I was reading it same as it was presented online at my
bank. Then, the "other submenu" was available after I press, Alt F, then I
saved it as a *.txt* file.
But Jaws read the PDF online and when I saved it in the original form it
saved online. so I guess it's up to you if you choose to rename it for
clearification or not.

The problem is that it will not open up on the website. It simply crashes
IE11. I have the latest Adobe Reader, as well as IE.
