Are these steps applicable for Windows 7 also?

1. press the win key
2. arrow down to all apps and press spacebar
3. arrow through the programs
4. for the program desired on the desktop press the application key on that app
5. from the context menu select open program location
6. from the window that opens arrow up or down to the program
7. when on the program press the application key
8. from the context menu select send to
9. arrow right to view choices
10. select shortcut on the desktop
11. press enter
12. when finished close all opened windows using alt+F4

if you don't see the app you want in the list of all apps arrow down to the 
windows accessories folder
press enter on it to open it's contents
there are more apps in this folder including internet explorer
perform the steps above to put a shortcut of the app on the desktop
