I've been using the slection process you mentioned along with holding down the shift key while arrowing down to select multiple lines of text at a time but, I was hopeing there was keystrokes that would select blocks / groups of text at 1 time like you can do in Word. Notepad uses arrow up & down and I use the keypad for navigation as well. To highlight text I move to the left of the first letter and then hold down SHIFT and arrow right to highlight the text or hit END to highlight to the end of the line.
