Thanks, but I have tried both tabbing and left and right arrow but settings is not one of the options that comes up.

Try using only the right/left arrow keys to move from dashboard to scan to settings, etc. Tab until you hear one of those, which are reported as radio buttons, for some reason. When you arrive at settings, try the tab or use the down arrow to open the next layer of choices there. It's not ideal but it does work. Gerald is correct in that 1.75 was the latest most accessible version. But be sure to uncheck the option to automatically download updates. Only allow downloading of the database updates.
