Ok, thanks. After blindness and a double organ transplant, you can say I am as resilient as rubber, anything you throw at me I am going to bounce back from!

Hope that helps. The shift f10 does not work, adding the fn key to it does not work either. The f keys are working in action mode so I will be either going into the bios or just calling HP support and have them take care of it because I also need to know how to shut off the mouse pad. Thanks again to all and Happy New Year. I have the same situation of not having an applications key. First of all, shift + F10 does the same thing as the application key. Next, will JAWS work in the bios, or does that require sighted help? I would like to get my function keys working the way they are supposed to as well. That is a pain having to press the FN key and the F4, for example. If that will work with JAWS, I will go into the bios and do that. Thanks and congrads on your new HP. I love HP computers. Have a great one. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Sent: Wednesday, December 30, 2015 1:40 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Getting the applications key working on new HPlaptop Curt, HP has re-mapped the function keys. Usually, just to the right of the lefthand control-key is a Func key. You need to press that in conjunction woith one of the functionkeys f1-f12 to get it to do the traditional function. Otherwise, you are in what HP calls ActionKey mode. Generally, you can return the HP to function like normal: This "amazing" technology is called "Action Keys Mode", and the good news is that it is very easily turned off to get your laptop back to working the standard way of having to press the fn key. Steps to fix: - Shut Down your computer completely. Don't put in Sleep or Hibernate - Press Power button to start - Immediately press F10 key a few times - This will start the BIOS - Go to 3rd page (System Configuration). Press right arrow key to go to next page - Select the "Action Keys Mode". Press ENTER. Select DISABLE - Save and Exit "A person cannot survive as a true Spartan fan unless he is a bit of a masochist and a very large optimist." I tried the function key and the f10 for the applications but still nothing happened, in fact nothing is happening. I want to change the way the function key works anyway because it is easier to use JAWS when the function key is for the volume and tracks and the f keys are for what they normally should be. Can anyone give pointers as to why I can't get anything to happen with the f keys? Thanks for any help.
