Hi David and others on the list.
I read this in a w-10 computer book.
* Power conservation. By default, an app is suspended within a few seconds
if you move away from it. This behavior is particularly valuable on
battery-driven systems such as phones and tablets. Apps can be written to
run in the background (allowing you, for example, to play music while you
work), but this is an exceptional case.
This makes sense as part of the problem with Jaws.
For example, when I ALT+Tab, away from WLM, and back again.
I get the message, unavailable, I have to maximize the screen to see my
inbox.
Is it possible that this Power conservation built into w-10, has something
to do with the Jaws temporary lockup?
I guess this would make sense, what do you all think?

Yes, usually three or four windows opened up at the same time.
However, this still happens some times with only two windows opened up.
I have tried everything I can think of to correct the issue, with no luck.
So, the more of us testing this issue, the better.
I think it is something in the Jaws program, I could be wrong.
Above my pay grade!
Any help is appreciated with this issue.

Do you guys keep a large amount of windows open at the same time? Honestly
on this windows 10 system which is the only one I have so far all is as
steady as a rock. Just wondering if we could track this issue down by
comparing notes.

I get the pauses on Windows 10 and Windows 7, with either JAWS 16 or 17. I
notified fFS, but got a generic reply. After that, I figured it was my
computers.

Hi George,
Thanks for confirming with me and with a lot of people on my group who are
having this same issue.
I wanted to see if it was exclusively with w-10 and Jaws 17 or with other
versions of Windows and Jaws 17.
So, you have answered my question, thanks.
The more of us who let F S Support know about this issue the better.
Again, this is an intermittent Jaws 17 lockup issue, hard to produce when
you want to show someone at F S Support.

Jim,
I am not in Windows 10 but Windows 7 with JAWS 17 and Office 365.
I have experienced the 10 second or more silence in JAWS 17. I at first
assumed it was due to having both MAGic and JAWS in the same machine which,
of course, run perfectly together.
However, I am seeing some instances on this list of the instances of JAWS
going silent.
I just switched to JAWS 16 and updated to the 16.0.4468 update.
So far I believe it is executing more quickly but time will tell if it
eliminates the pauses. More later.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] More testing of Jaws 17
Good morning Jaws Users group.
Last night I was doing research and other things.
So, I started out using the latest Jaws 16, and then switched to using the
latest Jaws 17.
Let me know if any of you have noticed the following intermittent lockup of
Jaws 17.
This intermittent lockup of Jaws 17 has been doing this from the beginning
of the Jaws 17 release.
For example.
I had the following programs and windows opened.
Bookshare, F S Reader 2.0, WLM, personal folders, and on occasion my
external back up drive.
Using Jaws 16, latest release no issues.
Using Jaws 17, latest release, it froze up intermittently six times or more
in a little over an hour.
The freeze lasted for 10 to 15 seconds, this is very frustrating.
For example:
When going into the search edit box on Bookshare, Jaws 17 intermittently
freezes for 10 seconds or so, you can do nothing until it speaks.
When pressing Control+N, for a new message in WLM, same thing.
When pressing Control+R, to reply to a message, same thing.
When pressing the escape key in F S Reader 2.0, to go from my alphabetical
list of books back to the current book, same thing.
When pressing ALT+f4 to close a program, or pressing Control+W, to close a
window, same thing.
When pressing ALT+Tab to switch From one program to another, same thing.
When in the settings area, going from one screen to another, same thing.
Again, this is an intermittent Jaws lockup, very difficult to reproduce with
any regularity!
But never-the-less, this is a very frustrating issue with Jaws 17.
Again, this has been this way since the first release of Jaws 17.
This is why I went back to using the latest Jaws 16 on my w-10 computer.
Do any of you use Jaws 17 older version or the latest version, regularly on
your w-10 computer?
Have you encountered this Jaws 17 intermittent lockup, which last for 10 to
15 seconds?
If you have, please let me know, also, please let F S Support know about it.
Again, very hard to reproduce this problem when you wish to reproduce it.
But it continues to intermittently pop up again and again in Jaws 17.
I do not have this issue using Jaws 16, so, I know the issue is with Jaws
17.
Any feedback on this issue would be appreciated.
