Hi all, The instructions I gave Rose were my own words. I did not have Jim's materials in front of me to change a word or two. I have a great great memory. Should it be held against me that I can remember in my head what Jim says in his tutorials. It is coming straight out of my head. What am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to pull up Jim's writings and try not to put it in his words? Yes, Jim taught me well, but I am not purposely rephrasing what he says. I am just saying what comes to my head and that is all. If what Jim says comes from my head, what am I supposed to do. Am I supposed to not have a memory? How can I help what comes out of my head? I am not doing anything on purpose! I am just helping people with the information I know. Isn't that petty that Jim is so concerned with having credit for his work that he does not want to help blind people? Why is Jim assuming that I am copying his work? Have a great one. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Sent: Saturday, March 5, 2016 10:59 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10! Hi David and the Jaws users list. Sorry about any confusion my last email may have caused. You know that my w-10 and Jaws complete guide can be shared by anyone. What I was talking about was the plagiarizing of my material by certain people. People that I helped teach and learn w-10 with Jaws. People changing a few words and then calling my work there work. For some reason they want to receive the reward for my hard work. I asked this person 4 or 5 times now to quit plagiarizing my work and calling it his own. But he refuses to do so, so I had to make a public statement to this effect. He needs to come up with his own work and needs to quit taking credit for my work. Again I apologize for any extra traffic this may have caused. Yes, my guide that David has graciously put on his Jaws web site can be freely used and shared. Thanks... Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed reaching His goal. Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with good health. Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be spiritually balanced with wealth. Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens where God sits. Hi David, Gee, I am glad you learned so much from me. Now you act like all my material belongs to you to share with others. I will now publically ask you not to share my group tutorials with others, this is my material, not yours. Just because you change a word or two like in this email, it is still my material. Hi rose, All of your data should be there. To find installed programs, press the Windows key and up arrow to all apps and press enter. In win10, all desktop programs and all universal apps will be in the list. In the list itself, you cannot use first letter navigation, but here is what you can do. Tab once from the list of programs, and you will be in a list of all the letters in the alphabet. Arrow to the letter you want and press enter twice. Important, press enter twice. You will then be put in a list of programs that start with just that letter. Take care, and please email me off list, because I installed win10 in August, and I know everything about navigating win10 and customizing it to work best with JAWS. Press windows + I brings up the settings app, and you can change most of your settings in the nine groups of settings that you can right arrow through until you get to the group you want. One of the first things you should do, is press enter on the system settings group and arrow to default programs. Press enter and tab through and press the space bar on Internet. It will say that Edge is your default browser, but tab to Internet Explorer and press the space bar on that. IE will now be your default browser. I would install VLC media player for audio and video. Once you do that, go back to default apps and press the space bar on audio and tab to VLC and press space on that, and do the same for audio. Next, you really want to press Windows + I to get to settings and right arrow to privacy group and press enter. Arrow down to background apps and turn most of them off. You do not need these apps to run in the background. Warning... The newest update of JAWS reads these switches the opposite way. When it says on, it is really off. Use JAWS 17.1214 to set these background apps from on to off by just pressing the space bar on them. Warning... When you press space on one of them to turn it off, JAWS takes you back to the beginning. You have to tab back to where you were to the next app and turn that off so it won't run in the background. Each time, you will be taken back to the beginning, so you will have to tab through to the next one you have not turned off yet. Once you get finished with that, you will have a good start with win10. Please email me at: jesusloves1...@gmail.com I will help you to get win10 working for you just as well as windows 7 did. It takes a lot of work to figure it all out on your own. Have a great one. -----Original Message----- From: Rose Combs Sent: Friday, March 4, 2016 5:32 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows 10! I got upgraded to Windows 10, only because of a hard disk crash and replacement. I managed to figure out how to get Jaws installed, kept getting a message to tap to install it with Narrator, but eventually, and I don't know how, managed to get to the right place. Authorized JAWS, set IE as default, setup e-mail client. Still have to figure out HP Envy Printer/scanner, Open Book, and how to navigate to find things in 10. Have not tried Cortana as I don't have a microphone plugged in at this point. It is not the same as 7, can't find all my installed programs, and they removed what they thought were questionable programs such as JAWS, ... so, figuring things out slowly. Suggestions would be helpful, I have not found all the saved messages I kept on Windows 10 but they say they saved all my data! Like I believe that, LOL. Have to find my medical spell checker eventually also.
