Yes I had questions about my windows updates and how most of them lately show as failed. But the problem is I can't even check for updates, because the screen says I have a pending update so I can't even look at the updates. And it always says "restart now," as if it's gonna force installation of 10 if I do restart. In my case it probably wouldn't install because many new updates are showing as failed. But I wonder if I could get this windows 10 message out of updates I could try installing only the updates I want. If anyone knows how to get this windows 10 message out of windows updates I would very much appreciate knowing how.

Now this is new and a bit annoying I must say.

A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from
a simpler system that worked perfectly.

No. Actually it's getting to the point where people have been reporting
that, if you have checked recommended updates, Windows 10 automatically gets
installed.

Hi,
I am not sure you could have W10 automatically install because you
have to do a few steps during the install process. Are you sure it is
not the icon down by the clock in the system tray and also a screen
may come up telling you about installing W10. So my next question is
are you sure it installed W10? And if so how do you know it is using W10?

He does not have openbook. The school installed zoomtext on his
computer. I had a demo copy of jaws 15 installed but have not needed
access to his computer in a very long time. There are some other
programs installed. He was told by the school not to install win 10
and now it is completely installed and set up. Zoomtext did update and
looks like it is running for him. Not sure about everything else.

Lenny,
If he was running jaws 16, 17 or have openbook installed, That would
never happen, like you say, automatically.
Because the upgrade would only get to about 25% complete and you would
have to cancel the install, or continue and remove the FS programs.

My grandson just turned his computer on and it automatically updated
to windows 10. How can he go back to windows 8.1? Some of his programs
supplied by the school and office for the blind will not work on windows
10.
