Just to be clear, paste it into the message field of your message. When you 
shift-tab, it will show up as an attachment. As Kimber says, this method is 
much, much easier.

You can copy the file from your desktop with control C, then paste it into your 
message with control V thus avoiding that whole attach tree view.
