I also see the zero percent progress report when updating, even though the updates are actually happening.

Mike, in addition to what MSA told you, I heard that since it's a fresh install of W7, checking for updates should be continually done until none are left. there are updates for updates already installed, not just what you have installed like Microsoft Office programs.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Updates Don't Show

Good Morning Adrian,

After clicking on New Updates in the system tray, tabbing twice, I land on
the Notification Chevron button, I arrow up twice to, new updates are
available, press enter , & I land on a progress bar that says 0 percent.
But, reviewing with the Jaws cursor, it says checking for updates. I keep a Windows Update shortcut on my desktop for convenience, & if I click on this
icon, if updates are ready I'll land on either the Important or Optional
update link. Now if I click on this icon I get the same progress bar 0
percent. I called MS Accessibility & they said to wait a couple of hours
since this is a new install & I've never checked for updates it could take awhile. Also, they stated that they've had problems with their updates that
might make updating even slower. Thank you very much for your input.

Take care.
Mike

Mike, I'm experiencing this behavior, too. Go back to the system tray, click on Windows updates, then tab twice. If you get the same verbalization I do, you'll hear, "System tray, new updates available." Here it's a button. Press
enter and you're in business. For progress reports, I think you need to
return to the system tray and repeat the operation.

Hi All,

I just reinstalled Windows7 Pro yesterday, & I'm running Jaws15. I'm told that I've got new updates, but when I click on the system tray icon it takes me to the desktop. When I go to the control panel / windows updates I can't find the Important or Optional updates links either. What do I do to get to
these updates so I can install them?! Thanks much.
Take care.
