There may indeed have been improvements. I have successfully exchanged
text-based messages with colleagues and participated in a voice call with
Skype for Business 2016. The help system includes explanations of how to use
Skype for Business with a screen reader. Admittedly, it's a slightly confusing
application to navigate (or, at least, it is for me).
