Jim,
Try to run jaws from the system tray, instead than from the desktop (Jaws
option menu).

Waite, there was an update to windows 10 today and Tuesday there is going to
be another one.

Check your MSCONFIG on what is starting at start up, I admit is a little
more confusing and different than on wind 7.
It's very important to shut down the PC at night correctly, when you shut
down,
Because Windows 10 snaps an image of your system at the time that was
running, so when you start up it should be faster

I experience that here to sometimes, but as long as it comes on, I don't
worry...
Press windows key and tab across to the navigation drop down list and Arrow
down to power-enter and arrow to shut down-enter, there are other options as
restart sleep.

Or,I would be calling the jaws voodoo doctor Mike B.
The doctor has a potion for every jaws sickness in his bag of potions
(SMILE.)

explorer in W10?

George, I have done that. jaws 17 is gone, and I have reinstalled 18 latest
update. My computer starts much slower than it did before I installed the
anniversary update. I don't know what the difference in the anniversary
update than what I had before frankly. I'm thinking about rolling back, but
thought I had better hold on, and see if I can get the slowness solved

. I have jaws 18 latest update on my computer and no other screen reader.
When I boot up the computer, it says windows sign on unavailable, then it
says sign on button, and then there is a long pause before jaws says, jaws
professional. Things are just moving slower at start up. Jim

Jim,
Whatever version of jaws you are using,
Download latest Jaws to your down load folder that you are using, Delete out
J 17 out of your pc, but keep the files only.
Start your narrator and go to your download folder and re-install Jaws
17again.
For some reason the anniversary and jaws works great, after this.
Then, reset jaws quick key command and reset the jaws option menu.
HTH,

                                        Jorge

I am not using Windows 10 but I've never heard that any settings in Windows
had to be changed to get the most out of JAWS. Is this a Windows
10 only thing or is it just something that some people have found by
experience?

Cheers!
