I've encountered something similar in Word 2010. But once I name the new
document, I can switch back and forth without a problem. Does what you describe
with Word 2016 happen after you've named the newly opened document?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 18 and MS Word 2016 document focus problem

Hi,

I am running JFW 18, Windows 10, and MS Word 2016.

When I open a document when another document is already open I have a lot of
trouble getting Jaws to focus on the newly opened document. Jaws+T says that I
am in the new document. However, Jaws will not read the document and focus
returns to the previous document.

Sometimes I can move the Jaws cursor to text in the newly opened document and
route the PC cursor to the Jaws cursor. However, this only works part of the
time.

Sometimes I can resolve the problem by alt-tabbing to another program and then
alt-tabbing back to the newly opened document. But, again, this works only
part of the time.

Sometimes I can resolve the problem by restarting Jaws.

I have tried going back to the default user settings (control+spacebar, Z).
That does not resolve the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?
