Dear Annette:
I would stay away from the XP media edition and go with the XP home
edition. I own an H. P. ZD 8000 and it came with the XP media edition and I
have had several problems as a result. The first one is that you must use
the professional version of JFW, which costs more, and there are some
programs out there which will simply not work with the media edition. I
recently bought a time keeping program for my office network, and it will
work with all computers in the office but the one which sits on my desk. I
was disappointed in that, as I had hoped to be able to monitor the hours and
schedules of my secretaries.
The media edition is designed for those who wish to use video and sound
to the max. I am not in to movies and the production of videos, so the
features on the machine are of little use to me.
These are just my thoughts on the subject.

                Yours Truly,

                Clifford Wilson

Subject: [jaws-users] New laptop compatibility with JAWS

Hello All,

My employer is purchasing a new laptop for me. It is a light-weight DELL
model. I'm going to provide the specs below. Can anyone give me pointers
as to features or components that might cause JAWS to not work? I know that
Video cards can be a problem, can anyone tell me if the one in this laptop
could be a potential problem?

Any advice or recommendations that any of you can give to me will be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Annette
