Another approach I will try, assuming my drivel below is vaguely correct, is a wrapping Context that masks... That way I can use one context, mark off the LHS, then mark off the RHS, and then iterate out the marked nodes, in order....
Should be no worse than current, and better because you short circuit the rhs...
