You need to re-read Dan Eli's post.

This used to happen to me ALL the time trying to do exactly what you
are trying to do.

The important part is to add the CHAR(0): as Dan states to force a
flush.

However, using the @ positioning is totally unnecessary and just adds
complications,

Thus, try:

CRT ".":CHAR(0):

it should work just fine.
